Secure the Ballot is expanding the promise of democracy to young people in the Carolinas, especially young black and brown people, and young people living in rural communities. We believe that by bringing young people into the decision-making process, we make our country more representative, fair, and strong.
We are a voter participation initiative, focused on registration, education, and mobilization. In 2020, we registered nearly 8,000 new young voters by building relationships in local communities. We’re investing for the long term in organizing in the Carolinas, especially in black, brown, and rural areas.
We know that young voters aren’t apathetic but have been systematically excluded from the resources and opportunities to be a lifelong voter. By investing in young people through organizing in high schools, colleges, universities, and rural communities, we can empower a new generation of voters. In building the strongest grassroots organizing effort ever seen in the Carolinas, supported by nation-leading digital outreach, we meet young voters where they already are.
